About Me

My name is Makayla, I am 16 years old, and I am currently going to school to get "educated". It was in the third grade when I started drawing clothing (please keep in mind that I dressed like a complete bum). I really enjoyed it. I think what really started my drawing was that I was newly introduced to Disney Channel and one of my favorite shows was That's So Raven.

I dressed like a dorky bum until I went into the eighth grade. I wanted to be a "completely different person". I started dressing better... I still didn't look that presentable I guess you could say. I was getting the hang of it. I started doing fashion shows and that opened up my eyes as to how dressing "worked". I had made a couple blogs that I posted twice and then deleted. I didn't really understand what to do with them. I still wasn't sure what I was doing at all.

My freshman and sophomore years were a trillion times better. I new how things worked and looked together in my head and it was pretty cool. Although I was one of the best dressed people in my class (if I do say so myself), when I thought about what I was wearing I realized that if someone were to dress up and come to school they would probably look just like me. I liked the feeling of dressing up and going somewhere. Because of where I lived, school was the only place I could really do that. I guess I subconsciously knew that and started collecting some weird clothes before I had figured all that other stuff out.

In my first post on this blog, was my first day dressing "out there". That outfit isn't really a huge deal now, but on that day it was a HUGE DEAL. I started shopping at thrift stores and really love it. You never know what you're going to find there. There are a lot of clothes that have been well preserved from the 80's and earlier.

I started sewing clothes in my second semester of my sophomore year. After my first project I knew that fashion was what I wanted to go into. Sewing things well and quickly I noticed I was extremely good at.

I have been thinking about three colleges that I want to get into. Missouri State University, Stephen's in Colombia, Missouri, and Parson's New School for Design in New York City. I was thinking about Missouri State because I live in Springfield and that way I could save money to study abroad.

This blog is, in a way, showing you where I will be taken.
