Bed Sheets

This will be short but I wanted to show you guys what I made!!

I made this skirt last night in about 3 hours. I am pretty sure that the fabric I used was bed sheets. I am so proud of this. I didn't have to take anything apart. This is the first time I didn't make a mistake that I had to re-due!! I love this so much!! I just wanted to show you guys because I really wish I could climb up a mountain right now and show everyone!!

I am in a great mood and I hope you are too and you are having an incredible day!!

Fluorescent Adolescent

Last night I got this new book from the book store called Trinkets by Kristen Smith. It was awesome I came home and started reading it right away. I finished it this morning when I woke up. It is such a good book and it's definitely something new to read. This book isn't the same story as most other books are. I suggest you read it if you haven't already. I bought mine for $18 but I bet you could find it online a little cheaper. Maybe even at your library.

I sat out by the pool this morning to get that necessary vitamin D in me. When I came home and took a shower I noticed that where my stomach folds when I sit there was a paler line there. Great. I look like a striped maniac. It reminds of this book I read in elementary school. The main character was sick and started changing colors and had strips and polk-a-dots. I'll let you guys know if i happen to get to that point.

Lets see. I haven't done very much today. I went to Walmart to get some stuff to clean my car with because I was bored of sitting. I even vacuumed it! Talk about productive!! While I was cleaning my car I found some treasures under my seat. They consist of lip gloss, lip stick, some tubes of glitter, a Hershey's kiss, and a notebook. FYI I did NOT eat that Hershey's kiss. Who knows how old that is. I was extremely happy to find that lip gloss. It's the kind that makes your lip get all tingley and cool.

My friend got the lip gloss for me at Sephora for my birthday last year.

This is a new skirt I got at the DAV. I am pretty sure I payed like $5 for it. I love it to death.

I buttons down the middle. I like how long it is. I really like an old school school goer. Hahaa school goer. I usually wear a blue and white striped shirt with it but I wanted to show the skirt off so I wore a plain one this time.

I hope you guys are having fun doing whatever you guys do.

This is probably the best music video I had seen!

Cooled and Bejeweled!

Well to start this post off... IT'S SO FREAKING HOT OUTSIDE!!!!! I go out there and get burned by the air and immediately run back inside the house. Jeez the sun is so POWERFUL!! We need rain.

I love the rain. I think it is so pretty I like sitting and listening to it while reading a book or hangout learning things on the computer. But I only like the storms that make the sky turn black in the middle of the day and are super loud.

I have some sad and happy news to share with you. Let's go with the sad news first: Two years ago I had knee surgery. I had completely torn my ACL playing soccer. I got it repaired and got checked out of rehab early. I was doing very well recovering. This last week I seem to have hurt it again and I have been given a list of things I can not do by my doctor. It starts out: No walking for a long time and no dancing, jumping, skipping, or hopping. I LOVE TO DO ALL THESE THINGS!!

The good news: I have to keep it elevated and compressed to bring down the swelling. This office desk is a great place for elevating so I will probably be writing a whole lot to keep myself from boredom.

See that weird bump? Yeah... That is where my bone is in my leg and its all swollen on top of it. It is red and my scar looks like it's being stretched. If it's possible this could pop. It probably will. It looks so gross and hurts really bad. I look like an alien.

Despited my knee hurting I took some pictures for you guys. I didn't wear this outfit out. I plan to as soon as possible because I LOOOVE it!!

The socks are actually knee high tights that I made. I bejeweled them. I think that they look better all scrunched down. If I pull them up my legs look like tree trunks. And that doesn't look good.

I like how they are the ones put in the spotlight because everything else is black. I love this outfit.

This was a short little post. I hope you all had an absolute spiffy Monday!

Sit Down Son, We Need To Discuss Something

Usually when your Mother/Father says this to you, you quickly turn around and run for your life in the other direction. Well BE COOL my little children. You're not in trouble and this isn't scary. So stay where you are and keep reading.

This "thing" that I feel needs to be discussed pronto is about "normal" "average" people and their clothing.

I bet you have noticed in the movies and TV shows and even on the streets what the famous ones of us are wearing. But have you ever noticed how the rarely, if not, never wear that piece of clothing again? Some of these shows are "reality" TV shows. THAT IS  NOT REALISTIC!

I know people that say "Oh, I wish I could wear a new outfit everyday!". What is the fun in that? I don't know about you, but when I purchase something I love to death I want to wear it as much as I possibly can. In a way I understand the "coolness" of it but that is such a waist of fabric and money. Think about it. If I lived to be 92 years old exactly I would have lived 33,580 days. if every outfit was between $100-$200 (this includes shoes, jewelry, socks, etc.) that would be $5,037,000 by the time I died. I personally can't afford to spend multiple million dollars to by clothing that will only be worn on my human body one time. I HAVE TO EAT TOO!!

But I know a trick that I live by to make it seem as if my closet is as full as space. When you wear something, put into memory when and how you wore it. Make sure you don't wear that piece of clothing for about 3 weeks before you wear t again and try to pair it with something else. Keep wearing it with different things and then you can start the cycle all over again. When a clothing item is worn with something else it makes it look like it is a completely different item. This makes it look like your closet is never ending.

I guess this includes my informative rant for the day.

I'm changing it up. It's a thing to tuck your shirt into your skirt. Why not tuck your skirt into your shirt for a change?

I think this is different and cute. Now you don't have to worry about your shirt slipping out of your skirt if you sit down or slightly bend over. PROBLEM SOLVED!

I also now have a Twitter account. My username is Makeewah. Feel free to follow. Or not.

Have a fantastic day!

A-Hoy Sailor!

You know when you try so desperately hard to do something to your best ability and when you finish and really look at whatever it is that you're doing you realize that you did everything WRONG?! Isn't that just incredibly frustrating?!!?!? Well I am here to offer you a tool to use when this awful thing happens! The best solution to every problem! Here is the answer:

Drum Roll Please!!

Just put yourself to sleep. Yes. Go crawl in bed, watch something just absolutely ridiculous on the Television, and fall to sleep.

If you don't do this, you will probably keep working and it will just get worse and worse until you ninja kick the wall. Then what would you have? A HUGE WALL IN YOUR WALL AND YOUR MOM WILL YELL AT YOU! We all know that is the most scary thing in the world!!

This has been happening to me a lot lately and I am sick and tired of it! I want to be able to work on something without my stupidity kicking in. JUST ONCE! This might actually be an illness I am describing and you have no idea what the heck I am talking about because it has never happened to you!

Lately I have been changing things. I have recently rearranged my room and it looks so much bigger that was probably the smartest thing I have ever done! I peeled the hideous wallpaper off in my bathroom and am now working on cleaning the walls so I can begin to prime and paint them. I picked out this baby pink called Fading Rose. It is so pretty! I really think I need to see a doctor about my arm though, it feels like it is going to fall off from scrubbing!

I have also been trying to get out of the house and when I do I put together some great outfits!

This outfit makes me feel like a sailor. It is awesome! I love wearing it. The lions and cheetah print gives a cool jungle twist to the outfit. Sailors travel to amazingly beautiful exotic islands to I couldn't not add them!!

I have a love for this picture. Even though you can't really see what it is exactly that I am wearing, I feel like I look like a goddess because the kitty is looking up to me like that! I am so attached to this!
These shoes are E.T.Wright mens shoes made in England. I got them at Red Racks for $20 and they are selling on eBay between $40-$300. I don't want to resell them. I love them. Even if the make me look like I have clown feet.

My shirt is velvet. I love the feel of it. I was going to get a velvet shirt just like this one at a store for $39 but I found this one at a thrift store for $3.98. Even better!!

Thrift stores are the bomb people!! Don't look down on them. You can always find something spectacular!!

Peace out Homies!

Drive Drive Drive!!!

So the saying goes: "Good things come to those who wait." - I have no idea to said this

I do NOT agree with this at all. What are you doing as you are "waiting"? Sitting on your lazy butt eating Oreo's? I say Good things come to those with Drive! If you want something good go out there and take it. Don't stop until you have whatever it is that you want. No one can stop you.

Last Friday was Art Walk. I told you guys I was to take pictures. I was going to until my sister took the battery out of the camera and left it at home! Ugh that was annoying! It was truly great though!

I got my picture taken for the News Leader with a good friend of mine. I am in picture 13. There is also a picture of Jake Rogers Band in there somewhere. It is cool to look through!

I haven't really been doing much. I have been hanging out at the pool a lot. I signed up at LOOKBOOK which is an awesome website and you have to check it out if you're into fashion! Fan me if you would like.

This Friday I am leaving to go on a three day floating trip that my family and I take every year. We are on the river for 9 hours! It is exhausting and I usually get sunburnt. Goody! I somehow managed to sunburn the top of my head and it hurts like crazy!

This is an outfit post! The first one of June I believe. I don't know. My memory is not really here. I could very well be lying to you right now! MWAHAHAHAA

Now maybe you guys can see how this place is BORING! But I love it here. It's really old and run down. It is really neat to take pictures.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. It is a hole-in-the-wall place. I think the max amount of people it will hold is 7. It only sits four super uncomfortably at a really tiny bar like thing. There are posters up everywhere about events and the teenagers just have to draw mustaches on everyone.

This is my town!

Upholstery? For Clothes? For Fashion? Yes!

I was sitting on my couch drawing some outfits in my sketch book, you know, the norm, and when I looked to my left it all came to me. Every question in the entire universe had been answered and absolutely everything came together in a billionth of a second. I saw a pillow. This was a very special pillow. My Mom made it. Yes, she made it. She made it out of upholstery fabric. UPHOLSTERY FABRIC!!

I have always liked this fabric and was always drawn to it in the fabric stores. I would show my Mom and beg for it. I would get down on my knees and plead, I needed it so badly! The response would be one of three things: "Ew Makayla. No! It is hideous!" or "No Makayla. You are ridiculous. You need therapy! Not that ugly fabric." or "You have got to be kidding me! Stop living in your head and look at the world around you! That is just absolutely AWFUL! I'm about to be sick!"

Okay, well the last two are pushing it a little. But it didn't matter I needed that fabric. And I never got it.

As I was drawing this outfit I kept trying to picture the fabric it needed I was stuck. It was like everything in the world stood at a halt and nothing was moving. My brain froze and my eyes grew to a blank stare. As I was staring blankly, my head sort of tilted and after about five seconds of being motionless I saw that pillow. The pillow that changed my life. Okay that is probably too dramatic too, but yes. Then after coming to my senses again after looking at that beautiful pillow, my whole family was sitting there staring at me. That is how I was put into this mental hospital.

Nope. I'm in a hospital. My family didn't look at me either. They were staring blankly into the TV. Oh man I'm going to be hit for that one. They didn't do that either. It doesn't matter what they were doing. I saw that beautifully amazing pillow.

I was staring to get extreme;y bored with how the fabrics of the two dresses I made worked together. They didn't really make any sense to me. I have always been a fan of juxtapositions. As I thought about the upholstery fabric I noticed it was heavy and had both a roughness and smoothness about it. I adore tulle and know that that is a must-have in the garment. When I put the two fabrics together in my head it exploded. The tulle is transparent and light weight. The upholstery is heavy, it doesn't breathe.. They are the exact opposites and that happened to be exactly what I was looking for.

This was my idea. It looks a lot better in my head, I promise. I want the tulle to fill out the bottom of the dress and stick out a little bit so it is noticeable. But I also wanted it through out the dress. I have practiced with gathering tulle and it work excellently! I am really excited about this idea. I hope you guys are too.

This might mean that the whole collection is changing. FOR THE BETTER!

I Don't Give a Damn About My Reputation!

Another beginning to another long week in this long hot summer with, sadly, not much to do in a place like this. Saying this is actually quite sad because for most of us the summer has just started. It just seems like all I do is sleep and watch Doctor Who and whatever else. I have been spending time with some really good people though. They are really fun. We mostly just hang out at the river that we never get into because it is colder than dry ice. We also hang out at the park really late at night and just play around. It is really nice. I miss being a kid and never having to deal with anything. I like just being able to spin.

I plan to glue a camera around my neck pretty soon so I can introduce you guys to my world. It is pretty boring but some of the things that go on you can't see much of anywhere besides here. Like Art Walk. Art Walk is held downtown every first Friday of the month. It is so much fun and it is filled with the people you eat lunch with at the school cafeteria. Your usual stoners and artsy peeps, some preps not most usually, and you not-so-everyday people. They are fun to watch and get to know. You meet the nicest and coolest people there. I plan to go this Friday and show you guys how it is.

I have also been very busy sewing. I have finished dress number two for the most part.

The dress flares out at the bottom. I would have to pull it out for you to see. As I was putting it together it kept reminding me of the things I would dress up in when I was a little girl. That is a very good thing because that is the whole concept of the entire thing. I think I am going to hem it a lot I don't know if I like the dress that long. I have mixed feelings about everything I have made. I think it might be just because I made it. I don't know. If you have any opinions, any opinions at all please don't hesitate to tell me.

As I was making this dress my Dad came in extremely excited about this new station he found on Pandora. I think it was Lily Allen. A couple of songs in, I heard it. I heard the song. Right as it started I knew. I knew it would be the song that would be playing as these dresses started walking. It is Trouble is a Friend by Lenka. I have listened to Lenka for years and I was so glad to find out that she sang this.

I had heard this somewhere before and when I asked who sang it I hit myself and said DUH!

Lenka is super cool and so are her music videos.

I was listening to this song all weekend and I started thinking about the walking and I also came up with the idea that I could find or put together a mix of all the Disney princess movies' theme songs. I also thought that that would be expected though. If you have a preference, LET ME KNOW!

I have been teaching myself how to flat pattern over YouTube and one of my really good friends' Mom knows how and she dropped off some books for me to look at. It is all staring to make more sense which is a major relief!

I was going to say something but I can't seem to remember... I guess if it was really important it would come to me. Oh well.

Have a great week! I hope you enjoyed!

"It's nothing." "If you think it's nothing, you're a suspicious moron!"

Oh my. Oh my. I think I'm burnout. The only thing I seem to be slightly good at is sleep. Or trying to ignore sleep. Having nightmares back to back about being trapped and killed in my own neighborhood. WHAT THE HECK!! I was taught (through a TV show) that nightmares happen when your body gets overheated when you're sleeping. I turn on the air conditioner before going to sleep and freeze in the middle of the night and guess what, I STILL HAVE THEM!! I wake up and try to keep myself from going back to sleep, but working until 3am really takes its toll!

I have also really been thinking about pies lately. I really want a pie. Maybe a cherry pie. Or a peach pie. Possibly a chocolate pie. I really love pumpkin pie. Dog pie! No, no. I got you! Oh jeez, I am sooo intellectual...

A normal person would now be thinking to themselves "She has got to be on something. She just has to!" The answer is surprisingly no. This is my brain on semi-sleepless nights. Nothing makes since. I could be the Mad Hatter right about now. Which I really wouldn't mind. He's a righteous dude.

Before I was let out of school for the summer I was asked something. Right now I can't remember if I have shared this with you guys or not. Oh well. It's pretty awesome!  My fashion teacher, and Highland Springs, has generously given me the opportunity to design a couple garments for their annual Highland Springs Tea and Fashion Show in the fall! I went with my Mom when I was in 4th grade and had a blast! I can't wait.

This also brings me back to my sleepless nights... I noticed early on in my life that I have more (better) ideas about things and my inspiration kicks up a million notches really late at night. Last night I was up until 3am working on a dress that I had started three hours earlier. I got the majority of it done. It turned out really great. The not-so-great-part about being inspired really late is that none of the fabric stores are open that late, but I get so excited I just have to do something. That is why I am not completely happy with the outcome of this dress. I am really proud of the quality of the work and the idea.

Forgive me and my crappy IPhone pictures.

I still have the buttons and hemming to do.

My inspiration for this "collection" is kid dreams. As a child you (I say 'you' when I can't exactly speak for everyone. So I mean Me) were always a princess or a fairy when you played games with your little friends. It was always so sparkly and magical. That is where all the tulle comes in. There is going to be so much tulle!! I was born in the 90's and always always always wore dresses. It doesn't really matter what year I was born in. That makes no difference that I wore dresses, but I did. All the time! Right now, as a 16 year old girl, I am really into vintage and especially the 80's. That is where I added in the floral. Lots of floral! I really liked the idea of having a contrasting fabric for the top and last night I had jean fabric. This is where I start to not like the dress completely. I think this happens mostly because I feel like jean has been paired with everything, which it has, and it's not an original idea. I used to wear a jean jacket over everything and I still occasionally do. That is was is all brought out in me. I hope at the show, when people are seeing the outfits, that it reminds them of their childhood.

I had many other ideas that I was going to incorporate in the dress, but I think I am going to save them for another. I really am proud of this despite all the things I am not too fond of at the moment. I think this will be the first thing to walk so from there it keeps getting better. This is my only garment that is this close to done so I'm still not sure what the others are going to come out as yet. I can't number them until they are all completely done. I hope to (at least) have five garments.

Steering off this so I don't keep rambling... I have another surprise.

I cut my hair off! I donated about seven inches also! I really like it. It is all one complete length which I really like. You don't see many people without a million layers in their hair anymore. It's so weird to feel. It just ends!

I feel like this song explains my head pretty well right now.

Have a great day everyone!

Just Let Me Take My Shoes Off!

Looooongg annoying groan, mixed in with noises I'm not exactly sure how to spell, but it all feels like a;lsjdhfao;sufh a;osdhf oaergyaor o4ty693 pqu ht'. To let go of all the emotions built up during the dumb (forever taking) school hours. So hasn't been as bad though. People are just being asses because they can and school gets out for summer tomorrow (silent pause("YYYESSSS")). Thank you.

I have been suffering from a new illness called I'M NOT INSPIRED! I have been making some pretty cool things. They are just little wearable crafts. I hoping that after a while my inspiredness will all come back to me (BECAUSE SOME BUTT STOLE IT FROM ME. Or maybe I lost it. Oh well it's always easier to blame someone else, right?)

They other day I was reading Tavi Gevinson's personal blog, StyleRookie, and looking at her older posts. She was, and is, so funny, still is! She cracks me up just reading her posts, so if you haven't read them I suggest you do that and also check out her online magazine, Rookie. Back to what I was getting at....... (Gosh I am so easily distracted!!!!!!) I was looking through her old old old posts from 2010, a couple years after she started, and stumbled across an outfit I hadn't seen before..

She is so smart about how she transforms her clothes. I absolutely love this and really wish I had thought of it.

I started looking for something to wear to school Monday night for Tuesday and after an hour of nothing working I thought I might have to play hooky and just not go. I was so uninspired then I remembered this outfit and everything came together in two minutes on the dot.  I used Tavi's idea of half-ing a shirt (fold it in half and stick the sleeve into the other and Kaboom! Your life is forever changed!!!). I really wanted to make mine my own and not completely borrowed.

I had on my grey Mary Janes, but I took them off because
I JUST WANTED TO TAKE MY SHEOS OFF!

Super hero pose fail.

You know when you just love something so much and you don't know why but the amount of love you have for it is unimaginable?? Huh? Do you? Do you, do you, DO YOU?!!?! Well that is how much I had for this outfit. I think it was just the randomness of it that excited me. I really like how the colors of everything play off each other and the mix of the prints. One is all mellow and chillaxed and the other is like BAM! Right in your face. I felt like I could be two different people at the same time! Surprisingly my classmates really liked this. They are starting to freak me out. They all, in a way, stopped giving me crap about everything. People are just narrow minded and are so scared of anything different. In my eyes, different is a good thing? Why do what everyone else is doing when you can do something totally awesome and actually stand out from the crowd? People are too afraid. But that is a whole other subject.

I get out of school tomorrow!!! My posts will be more "in depth" and longer once I have a full day to write. I plan to get a job and I really hope it is at a clothing shop. That would be fantastic!

Oblivion

Hola! Beware: This post will be full of pictures!

In 1,000+!!!!!!!! I forgot to mention something! I forgot to tell you guys that I went to see Rocky Horror Picture Show! It was AMAZING and soo much fun! I drove three hours to get there, but I was completely worth it! I felt like everyone in the theatre was just a huge family. Everything was super relaxed and there to have a good time! It was a floor show and it was hilarious. I don't think there was I time that I wasn't laughing! My stomach was sore from it all the next day. I plan to go back some time in June. Their 40th anniversary starts on the 19th of June in Kansas City, Missouri. If you can make it I highly recommend you going. It's a blast!

The "V" is for Virgin. Don't worry, a virgin to seeing the show in a live theatre! I aren't asking about your personal life!

The site that I am going to start selling my stuff from is up, but is not up. I have it all set up and ready to go I just have to get the stuff ready to put up. I will keep you guys posted on that and let you know what is going on. I hope to have it running very VERY shortly! But until then, here is one thing that I will probably be doing (it all depends on how everything works out, ya know).

Keep in mind this is my sister wearing this. She is a twig and doesn't fill things out! This was an actual army shirt that I friend picked up at the DAV and she originally wanted she to alter it and make a shirt for her. I started thinking and screamed I AM GOING TO MAKE A DRESS! Because NO ONE has an army dress! Camo is a very "in" thing right now and having something that is really and completely different is that much BETTER! I was so excited to start this project and I actually haven't given it back to her. That is the problem with selling my stuff that I either fix or create. I usually love it so much that I want to keep it for myself and wear it all the time!

Most of you are probably all like WHAT THE HECK WOULD YOU WEAR WITH THAT?!?!?!?! I was thinking some really torn up black tights and some boots. Specifically my maroon Dr. Martens (I love those things I just was to blow up!!!).

Last Friday at school, my super good friend, Dannie, and I found some goggles and just had to try them on!

Aren't these just fantastic?!?! I need to order these for myself for personal use! We laughed for a good 20 minutes wearing them around. Our teacher looked at us and just shook her head (most likely thinking she was thankful that she only has 9 more days to put up with our silly childishness).

After we had our laugh we decided to "go to the bathroom" and walk around the school and have people watch us take crazy pictures of ourselves.

Oh mann, who knew SCHOOL could be so much FUN?! And yes, I did just use school and fun in the same sentence. You were not dreaming just then.

OUTFIT PICTURE!!!

Please take in this magnificent face..... Okay now come back! The golf-sporty-jacket-whatcha-muh-call-it-thingy is from the DAV (once again.(I think they are starting to remember me. I'm in there three times a week)). My shirt is actually not my shirt, it is my sisters from HotTopic. The shoes are from RedRack and they hurt my feet :(( I have blisters and they HURT!!!

I wore this in my hair with the outfit as well. I made this out of wire from my art class and sewed on some ribbon to tie it around my head with. And it stayed with some bobby pins (as you can CLEARLY see, I need to learn to hide those things).

Now these next couple pictures might be disturbing to some viewers. Viewer discretion is advised!

Don't these pictures just look like a horror movie?? I am the creepy girl that suddenly appears and gives everyone a heart attack. My school really needs to clean their windows. Do you see that web up there?

Last Friday I also made a friend. I mean made a friend.

His name is Jo. Isn't he just the cutest?? He ended up eating that trail mix behind him a minute later :)

This last weekend my cousin Amanda got married in Derby, Kansas. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and she looked amazing. It was just freezing outside!

This dress I saved from another trash pile. I saw it and almost lost my head. This dress is fantastic and better yet... IT HAS SHOULDER PADS!  I wore it with my shoes that I wore to homecoming last year, but I didn't actually go to homecoming. This is my step-mom.

Later that day, a woman came up to who I thought was about to cry and complimented me on this dress for a full minute and a half. I thought she was going to lose her "cool" for a moment.

We danced all day and when we got home I ate and crashed. My dad got me some Olive Garden.

Here I was reunited with my favorite food since my childhood, black olives. Black olives are da bomb mann!!

This is really random, but this is what I looked at on the five hour drive to Kansas. It was raining. Isn't that just absolutely stunning and peaceful?

TODAY'S OUTFIT!!!

This was another dress I saved from being thrown out. I paired it with my Blink-182 shirt that my friend gave me. I wore my leopard flats BECAUSE LEOPARD IS NEUTRAL! Many compliments on this outfit.

I just have a couple bloo-blahs to share with you...

This kitties name is Lil Bub. He has a Facebook fan page. He is my best friends favorite cat after her own. He is just the sweetest and you HAVE to like his page (I will find you in your sleep if you don't).

Definitely doing this this summer. I have also seen a picture of putting glow sticks in a pool and swimming. That sounds like an awesome time too!!

Okay guys thank you again for getting to the finish line! A little reminder:

Don't snort coke! Drink it!

Have an awesome night my peepity peeps!!
